- They will develop the most essential skills required to live and thrive in any society—reading, writing and thinking.
- They will take courses in a wide range of literature in English, creative writing, and journalism. Students will study major works and they will also examine the impacts of gender, race and ethnicity, and class on the creation and reception of those works.
- They will examine pieces of writing—essays, poems, stories—to figure out what makes them successful, then they will apply that knowledge to their work.
- Students will become comfortable being challenged and making an argument. They will learn to think their way through complex problems shaped and solved by language. And students will understand the power of language and they will know how to harness it to make an impact in their life, in their community or in the world.
